Our long/short weekend!

Olympic party! The Olympic opening ceremonies we're not what I remember they usually are...thought they were more entertaining! Guess we will have to review the past years. We sure are proud to be American though!

Oh dam! Hoover Dam that is!

We love where we live because there are so many neat places to see! Today for our Sunday walk we took a quick drive over to the Hoover Dam and it was busy! So beautiful too :) kinda scary cause there were a ton of cops around, it is such a crazy world we're living in! But such a beautiful one too!

More about Jake

So we have had Jake for a month now and have learned a lot about him!

1. He loves his walks! And the spoiled dog gets at least 4 every day.

2. He loves plastic, which is bad news for us. Anything plastic he will chew up, water bottles are his favorite. Good news for us because our house has never been kept so clean for such a long stretch of time! And I'd rather he like plastic than chew up fabric any day.

3. He loves swimming in the water! Doesn't love the sprinklers so much, but he is a good swimmer.

4. He loves to run and jump! Kind of wish he did those dog obstacle courses, he would be good at it except for one thing, see #5.
5. He gets worn out super easy! Like in a coma after a hike or being at the park or anything. He loves his sleep. We think he is super happy when we are gone during the day for work, because the weekends are really hard on him lol.

6. He loves sleeping in our bed. Do not know what we were thinking that one night I just wanted him to cuddle us for a minute. Has slept at our feet every night since.

7. He loves riding in the car! Which is a good thing because we do that a lot and it's fun to take him with.

8. He loves other dogs. This (along with barking occasionally) he has done ever since our weekend in Delta. He has a girlfriend, a pug named Phene. A best friend, Bogart, the little white terroir with a large underbite. And a long list of others, which he is always finding more of.

9. He has learned to love his little green toothbrush bones and how to play with toys. The poor guy must have never had anyone play with him before!

10. He is socially awkward! Which is so like us!

We have only wanted to take him back that first night, but once we got through it, we haven't regretted him at all! We feel so luck to have such a perfect dog for us!

We had so much fun with the girls the other weekend! We did so many fun things and had so much we didn't get to do. We went to Chuck-E-Cheese, which was an event for sure...

Brielle was horrified by the mouse, so eventually we had to leave, but there were hours of arcade games played before then! It was awesome :)

We also took the girls to watch the planes land, they loved it!

It was super fun to have them, and a big smack of reality for how exhausting it is to have kids around!

-Meet JAKE-

 We have been talking about getting a dog for a few months now. Occasionally we have looked around, but never found one that we really loved. That was until this week. We had gone to the shelter last week but only had a few minutes to look around before they closed, and there were a TON of dogs there. So on a random day off this week I decided to just go look, not really expecting to find anything but checking just in case. The first section of dogs had two that I knew Jeff would just love. The first one was a beagle, he was older and had been trained, totally ideal. Then there was "Mango" this little guy that looked like he could be a little monster but adorable at the same time. I took the Beagle out for a walk and to play first, he was HORRIBLE! barked at anything that moved, peed on everything he saw, and didn't even want to play. So not in love. Then I took out "Mango", worried about how it might go after the other dog. I LOVED HIM! Called Jeff and said, "This dog is such a lover! He loves everyone! He is perfect!" I took the dog back to his cage and picked Jeff up to come meet the dog. He loved him too, right away! We just knew he was the one.

 We picked "Mango" up the next day and the first thing we did was change his name to something normal! Jake just fit him so well so that's what we stuck with. The first night with him was SUPER ROUGH, and had us thinking, "OMG what have we done!?" But the poor guy had a crazy day and was just wound up. Right when we picked him up from the shelter we drove to pick up Rikelle from Warped Tour, and then drove for a couple hours before we got to take him home. So he was groggy from his surgery still and had this big plastic cone on his head, and was so happy to be with us, he COULD NOT SLEEP!

 All night he wanted to play and when we wouldn't play he would try whine or whack his cone into the bed, it was horrible. Because of the cone he doesn't fit in his kennel so for the next day while we were at work we put a gate up in the kitchen. He did good staying in there for the morning, we were super impressed! Then a couple hours later when we got home we found out he can jump higher than the gate, so he let himself out of the kitchen a was roaming all over the house all day. We were so happy that we couldn't even be mad that he got out, because there were no messes anywhere! He has turned into a dream dog. He still loves everyone, dogs or people, doesn't bark and is trained. We took him to his first vet visit today and he is happy & healthy, we couldn't be happier! Until we get this stupid cone off his head and can get him groomed, only a couple more days!!

Happy Memorial Day

We got to spend our memorial day in Utah last weekend, it was so relaxing! 

So happy to see family and not do a whole lot, just hang out. I was also SUPER excited about the refreshing weather. We have not worn hoodies for months!
